The LG Optimus 3D MAX is the company’s second 3D capable smartphone in the market. The first one was the Optimus 3D, launched last year. As the predecessor didn’t do very well in the market, LG are betting the future of 3D smartphones on the Optimus 3D MAX.

The 3D experience on the Optimus 3D MAX is good. You have to hold it perpendicular to your eyes, at a distance of almost as far as your hand can go, and find your comfort zone.
There is a dedicated 3D Space button on the right side of the device, that also acts as a camera shutter button. Just press it, and you will be taken into a new dimension – the third dimension. 3D Space is a complete three dimensional user interface, it consists of all your 3D needs, like YouTube 3D, 3D Gallery, 3D Games, 3D Camera and more. YouTube 3D is basically the 3D Youtube channel (www.youtube.com/3d), where you can find the best of YouTube’s 3D videos. There are also a few 3D games pre-installed onto the device. You get Asphalt 6,N.O.V.A., and Let’s Golf, all converted in 3D by Gameloft themselves. You can download other titles as well from the LG Smart World.
BUILD QUALITY AND DESIGN
The LG Optimus 3D back is a textured piece of plastic and the hardware buttons have the metallic look to them. The device is quite thin and light weight. The front glass is scratch resistant as it is the Corning Gorilla Glass 2, which is an extremely tough version of glass. The overall design is very similar to the Samsung Galaxy S II.
CAMERA AND MULTIMEDIA
The 5MP dual cameras on the LG Optimus 3D MAX are a good pair of shooters. But, you can only click 3D pictures at a resolution of 3MP.
When clicking in normal 2D mode, the phone makes use of the 5mp camera.
In 3D mode, you can shoot 720p HD videos. You can adjust the depth of 3D you want in it, so you get the desired effect. The LG Optimus 3D MAX allows you to capture Full HD 1080p videos from the camera.
The Optimus 3D MAX supports viewing of all the default formats of videos, plus 3D ones. LG loads about 5 3D videos out of the box for you to check out the true 3D capabilities of the device, and you can add your own videos as well. If one of your videos is not compatible with the device by default, you can always download 3rd party video players from the Play Store, like the Mobo Video Player.
LG’s default Music app has this feature called “Surround Sound”, which makes the sound feel like 3D.
You get the default Android 2.3 browser with the LG Optimus 3D MAX. The browser also has full Flash support. so you get a rich web experience. The text appears crisp, and is easy to read, thanks to the nice display. If the default browser is not to your liking, you can download some 3rd party browsers from the Play Store, like the Opera Mini Web Browser, or the Dolphin HD.
The powerful PowerVR SGX540 GPU makes gaming on the LG Optimus 3D MAX to have no issues at all.. The 3D games converted specially for the device, like Asphalt 6, N.O.V.A., and Let’s Golf perform without any lags, and you get a great overall experience.
The 1520 mAh battery pack on the LG Optimus 3D MAX is one fine performer. On a day with normal use, it is likely to last the whole day.
